Default NYC:Manhattan hoods-Battery Park City

Heading west brings us into the hood know as BPC. It goes from Battery Pl to the Chambers St between West St and the Hudson River. This hood is both commercial and residential. Honestly, the history of BPC isn't that old, b/c the land for it didn't even exist until the 1970's when the bathtub for the WTC created a landfill. Before this, it was a bunch of shipping piers otherwise known as the battery. It was believed by the PANYNJ that the land for it would be created by those bathtubs as if it was anticipated hence the BPCA. Governor Mario Cuomo believed that the area should be developed upon mixed incomes and built on a human scale on the new 92 acres. What makes BPC so speciall is that it's only hood in Manhattan not to have any prewar architecture as well as landscaping, though it also has no subways within its boundaries, but they aren't that far from it. You can get here by taking the M9, M20, and M22 buses. Here is what you will find in BPC.
