Hurray for the Norwegians and the Chinese (I guess...).
(that is an amazing list by the way)

Still, have you thought that we should also change the way we refer to some other countries, since they use a different word too (take France, Germany for example).

I support "Ellas",
why use the "H" ?
(Hell - ass?)

Cant ban them obviously.
But if the name is changed officially, they too, would change.

Of course this all hypothetical.

So Hellas, or would it be Ellas?
And we would refer to our selfs as Hellenes, not Greeks(not that we dont already at times).

The Chinese name for Greece derives from the way we pronounce Hellas...so hurray for them too!

Quote:
Hellenes (Έλληνες) - In mythology, Hellen, son of Deucalion and Pyrrha, received from the nymph Orseis three sons, Aeolus, Dorus and Xuthus. Aeolus and Dorus, and two sons of Xuthus, Achaeus and Ion were the legendary founders, respectively, of the four principal tribes of Hellas, the Aeolians, Dorians, Achaeans and Ionians. Originally, only a small tribe in Thessaly were called Hellenes, but the word soon extended to the rest of the peninsula and came to represent all Greek people.
Quote:
Greeks (Γραικοί) - In mythology, Graecus was the brother of Latinus and nephew to Hellen. It was the name of a Boeotian tribe that migrated to the Italian peninsula in the 8th century BC and probably through contact with natives there brought the term to represent all Hellenes, which then established itself in Italy and in the West in general.
Latin people knew Greece from them or from those who remained in Epeirus, and this is why they named all Hellenes Greeks (Graeci).
I'm totally in favor of Hellas and Hellenes being our official name...not only because it's more historically correct but because this is the way we call ourselves!

In the same way Yavan or Yunan (Ίωνες) isn't correct cause the term became established in Asia from the Persians, who in contact with the Ionian tribes in western Asia Minor, extended the name to all Hellenes.

How about Romioi?
