ATHENS, Greece: Trans-Atlantic air connections to Athens will be bolstered this summer with the addition of new direct flights from the New York metropolitan area to the Greek capital, Continental Airlines announced Tuesday.
The nonstop flights to Newark will be inaugurated on June 8 and will continue daily through the summer season. During the fall and spring seasons — September-October and March-April respectively — the flights will run five times weekly, while the U.S.-based carrier will operate three flights a week from November to March.
The announcement follows U.S. Airways' recent announcement that it will begin direct flights to Athens and two other European destinations this summer from Philadelphia.
