| With the last commercial flight of the Concorde in 2003, production of up to 75 Aerion jets valued at $100 million a piece will commence and are expected to enter service by 2012. They are expected to reach speeds of up to 1.6 mach, with a range of 4000 nautical miles. They are designed largely for the high end business market. Designed to provide seating for around 12 people, it is expected to cost $14,000 per hour to operate. Like the Concorde, they have a sleek, long pointed nose and short rear mounted wings that generated 20% less drag. | |||||||||||
