| LISBON AIRPORT Contruction of the New North Pier - 7 New Embarcation and Disembarcation Gates with Telescoping Jetways The goal of this development and enlargement project is to respond to the needs brought about by increased demand in recent years. The basic premise of this project is found in the need to avoid the obstruction of important terminal subsystems, such as embarcation gates, for example. Another important objective is the fulfillment of the needs of airline companies, namely those of TAP, with respect to passenger transfer from domestic to international flights within an acceptable period of time without losing quality in terms of customer service. Given these objectives, the Airport Development Plan calls for the construction of a new pier for embarcation and disembarcation (arrivals and departures) for passengers on Non-Schengen flights, which will include 6 new gates with telescoping jetways to provide access to aircraft cabin doors. Goals 1. Construction of new areas for the circulation of passengers from international flights; 2. Construction of new areas near embarcation gates; 3. Construction of new areas for commercial space; 4. Construction of new vertical access between floors; 5. Construction of new multifunctional technical areas, IEL, ISE, IMEC; 6. Construction of designated lounge areas for passengers; 7. Construction of evacuation/safety routes; 8. Construction of toilet/washroom facilities for the embarcation areas; 9. Construction of infrastructures to receive mechanised systems for moving passengers throughout the areas; 10. Total of 6 embarcation/disembarcation gates with telescoping jetways. Construction Goals - The digging and construction of concrete foundations; - The building of mixed structures, in concrete and metal; - The building of water supply conduits, sewers and drains; - The installation of electrical, ventilation, air conditioning and other special networks; - The interior fixtures, finishing and decoration; - The roofing structures; - The installation of mechanical means for vertical access (lifts/elevators). | Lisbon, Portugal, 29 Nov – Portuguese state airport manager, ANA, Aeroportos e Navegação Aérea, plans to invest 380 million euros over the next four years to increase the capacity of Lisbon Airport, the company’s chairman said Tuesday. António Guilhermino Rodrigues, said that the work, which would begin in January 2007, would gradually increase the airport’s capacity, which is currently 12 million passengers per year, to 16 or 17 million in 2010. Rodrigues also said that next Summer (when the current airport has most difficulties meeting demand) terminal 2 would be concluded, allowing for “a third quarter with more passenger capacity.” Terminal 2 will minimize some operational constraints during the time when building work is being carried out, and increase capacity at peak times, especially for domestic and Schengen flights, transfers and charter and low cost flights. Once work has been finished, Lisbon Airport will have 47 departure gates (30 of which to Schengen countries), or 21 more than it currently has, and 20 direct access walkways, and its cargo capacity will increase from 80,000 tons per year to 100,000 to 150,000 tons per year. According to ANA’s chairman, investment in an infrastructure that would be knocked down in 2017 may not provide a financial return, but would enable the airport to meet demand, especially in terms of tourism, which would represent high losses for the country’s economy. Meanwhile, in the third quarter of 2007, the public tender will be launched for the construction of the infrastructure for the future international airport at Ota, which will serve the Portuguese capital. The future airport at Ota, 60 kilometers from Lisbon, will represent an investment of 3.1 billion euros, and its concession period will be for 23 years.
