Sharon Baider and Globes' correspondent 20 Jul 08 11:50 Gazit-Globe Ltd. (TASE: GLOB) will build a €120 million office and commercial project in the Macedonian capital of Skopje. This is the company's first project in the Balkan country. The company has already bought the 42,000-square meter for €22 million. After meeting senior Macedonian government officials, Gazit-Globe chairman Chaim Katzman said, "Gazit-Globe's project in Macedonia is part of the positive business environment that Macedonia is creating for investors." Gazit-Globe will begin construction of the project in three months. Gazit-Globe has completed the construction of a number of malls in Bulgaria, and announced plans to build several more over the next five years. The company also announced that, at an extraordinary meeting last week, shareholders of Austria's Meinl European Land Ltd. (ATX: MEL) have agreed to the takeover of the company by CPI/Gazit Holdings Ltd., a joint venture of Gazit-Globe and Citibank International plc unit Citi Property Investors. The deal is due to be closed by the end of July. Dalia Tal 23 Jul 08 12:20 The Fattal fund has signed a contract to build a 450-room hotel in Munich for 70 million. The hotel will be operated under the Fattal Hotel Management Ltd.'s Leonardo Hotels label, which manages 30 hotels throughout Europe. The hotel, to be located in the Olympic Village, will be Leonardo's fourth hotel in Munich and the fifteenth in Germany. The new hotel is due to open in mid-2010 ahead of the Winter Olympic Games that the city is hosting that year. It will include banquet halls, spa, and fitness center. Fattal Hotel CEO David Fattal said that the Fattal fund planned to build 60 hotels at tourist, business, and convention centers in Europe, particularly in Munich. Fattal Hotel currently has 30 hotels in Europe, including 21 in Munich. It also has 18 hotels in Israel. The Fattal fund has already invested 80 million of the 300 million raised. In addition to Fattal Hotel Management, investors are Delek Belron International Ltd. (TASE:AFIL; Pink Sheets:AFIVY) Russian development arm AFI Development plc (LSE:AFID) is in advanced talks with Gianni Versace SpA for design the interiors of the company's Tverskaya Zastava mixed-use project in Moscow. The news comes just days after Africa-Israel Properties Development USA reached a deal for Donatella Versace for the interior design of the company's Clock Tower project in Manhattan. The Tverskaya Zastava development includes a 70,600-square meter shopping center and 400,000 square meters of office and residential space in series of projects. Donatella Versace will be responsible for the interior design of the 143,100-square meter Plaza I residential and office project, including the apartments and public areas. An Africa-Israel spokesman said in response, "AFI Development is in advanced talks with Gianni Versace." Michal Margalit 27 Jul 08 11:12 "Interfax" quotes AlfaRom Holdings Srl president Yigal Zohar that the company plans to invest €200 million in the Romanian real estate market over the next four years. The company and RO Future Group plc (TASE:ROFG.B1) are about to build an 850-apartment project at an investment of €70 million in Galanti. Both companies are owned by Israeli developers. Zohar added that the company was also planning to develop other small "high-level" residential projects in Bucharest and Brasov, and was also considering mixed-use projects. AlfaRom and Future Group have already begun construction of a €70 million residential project in the eastern Romanian city of Iasi. Half of this project has already been sold. AlfaRom and Romanian developer Kadna Real Estate are building 200 holiday apartments in Bran, best-known for its "Dracula castle" at an investment of €25 million. The company's largest project is planned in Giurgiu on the Bulgarian border. (TASE:AURA) subsidiary Auro Europe Ltd. has obtained a €19 million loan from Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) to finance its €25 million residential project, Green Hills, in the northeastern Romanian city of Piatra. The company will build 232 apartments. Construction of the first part of the project will be completed in November 2009. Apartments will range from one to five rooms. Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC, which is marketing the project, says that prices will range from €25,000 to €250,000.
