this competition is very good, it will drive new solutions faster. I think in 2 years from now we will start seeing real alternatives and with fuel prices it will become not economical not to switch to any other alternative. what is certain is that hybrid cars are not a solution. I still think that electric cars will ultimately be the cheapest most reliable solution once the batteries have longer spans, and they become smaller and cheaper. Im sure this will make cars cheaper, quiet and more efficient. and once the cars dont pollute buildings like fuel does, entire cities will also be transformed and places you couldnt live in because of noise and pollution will become valuable again.
the stupid thing was that car companies should have done this research decades ago and finished with fuel.

Israel is unique in that most driving is for short distances. The whole Gush Dan area isn't all that big. Most commutes are no longer than 10 to 20 kilometers. This makes Israel an ideal place to develop the electric car. The biggest obstacle in it's development up till now is the recharging of the batteries.

The biggest problem that faces Israeli drivers is the traffic jams. Not enough roads for the number of cars traveling on them. As cars become more affordable the road congestion gets worse and worse. Now with all the towers being built in the center of the country it will only get worse.

the only real solution to any transportation problem is better mass transport - more rail and ligh rail, more buses, bicycle paths and more compact cities.
believe it or not there were ministers a decade a go who thought making better railways with shorter times was a big waste of money and you can just add special bus lanes..

Denmark's largest utility joins Agassi's electric car venture
Denmark's deputy prime minister: The government will support Project Better Place with a tax exemption on electric cars through 2012.
Dubi Ben-Gedalyahu 27 Mar 08 18:06
Project Better Place CEO Shai Agassi announced today in Copenhagen that he had reached agreement with Denmark's largest utility, DONG Energy, to foster and implement his electric car venture in the country. The two companies will jointly build the infrastructure for the power supply and recharging points for the cars. The electricity will be generated from renewable energy sources, such as Denmark's wind farms.
DONG Energy provides nearly half of Denmark's electricity and has an annual revenue of 41 billion kroner. Denmark's deputy prime minister said that the government would support Project Better Place, and announced a tax exemption on electric cars through 2012, at which point it will review the subject.

The main project is still going to take place in Israel, right?
