| Great news - Israel is up 11 places this year in the FIFA football ranking published today. 2 days before the world-cup (mondial) draw in Durban - Israel is up to 26th in the world ranking and 18th in Europe (!) meaning we advanced to second level in European groups (!) with just one country ahead of us as group leader (9 first level countries) of each group. This is the first time ever that Israel's football team has advanced to be part of the Europe second level teams.
__________________ Did you know - Israel's landscape is per size, the most diverse landscape on planet earth, with 4 climate regions, snow peaks to sandunes, unique flora, fauna & climates mixing and crossing over from 3continents. for example - 500 million(!) birds use Israel's sky to migrate twice a year from the northern hemisphere to the south and back. | I was reading an article somewhere saying that Israel's problem had nothing to do with talent but with physical training. It said that in Europe, starting with the youth teams, physical training was top priority before learning skill. Israel on the other hand, focused mainly on skill and very little physical training. That is why usually Israel performs pretty good in the first half, but then starts to lag in the second, while European teams can keep going strong into the 90th minute. I think this article had a good point, cause after all we do have a lot of talent, but always during the second half of a game the pace slows down considerably. An example was Barack Itzhacki, when he played against Macedonia. He was doing excellant during the game, but around the 60th minute he was pulled out and people were angry with Kashtan, but in the end he admitted that the reason he was pulled out, was because he was tired and couldn't go anymore. So I seriously hope Israeli soccer takes notice of this problem, and then maybe we will rise even more in the rankings.
