| This is one of the stupidest laws in history. Athough the intention seems good, it's completely impossible to implement and enforce, except a select few lines, like some of the Eilat lines, and the Tel Aviv-Arad line. But the vast majority even of long-distance lines have passenger exchanges and many pick-up stations. A great example is line 947 from Jerusalem to Haifa, which travels for over 3 hours. Instead of this populist proposal, I suggest making a state-run organization for inspecting and fining public transportation companies for not adding more buses where needed. The ministry of transportation kind of has such a service, but it's practically inactive. | |||||||||||

| its not stupid at all why should someone who takes a train from haifa to tel aviv pay the same if he finds himself standing with no seat? I agree that implementing it will cause trouble, but you can find ways to do it on the train and bus drivers musnt let people up in 20-30 minute bus rides if theres no seat for them. | |||||||||||

| We all know that it's not going to happen. It will hurt people more than it will help - the bus companies won't be able to handle the extra buses needed to have enough seating places for everybody. And what about multiple-ride cards and free-monthly? How would someone with a free-monthly get a discount if he had to stand? And what about someone who stood for 2 minutes and paid half, and then got a seat because someone got down from the bus? How is that fair to the others? On the Tapuz forums they listed the bus lines where this 'law' is possible to implement, and I think there were 12 or so... out of over 1,000 in total. On trains it's also impossible to implement, unless you have ticket booths inside the trains themselves, and that's ridiculous. | |||||||||||
