| This pesach (passover), april 8th will see the festival of blessing of the sun (Birkat Hachamah / kiddush hachamah), a prayer that takes place the minute the full sun rises, only once only every 28 years when the cycle is completed. The main festival around this prayer will be held in Tzfat (zafed) and jerusalem and other mountains early in the morning followed by dancing. there are all sorts of beliefs and mysteries connected to this rare prayer which is symbolic to renewal of creation. It has to be said when the sun is fully visible. there is also beliefs that it brings good fortune and miracles connected to this date. This is the first birkat chamah done in the age of the internet.. Last edited by Livni; 3rd April 2009 at 16:40.. | |||||||||||

| Today I joined a religious group that did the chama prayer, it was very special! the main event was of course in the kotel in jerusalem but in since it is custom to do it on high places, and here it connects to our forum here - in tel aviv they also opened azrieli roof and other high rooftops for the prayers This week during pesach we will be doing the custom pilgrimage to Jerusalem old city and temple mount, this is my highlight of passover time each year. so Happy Passover and Seder to all the forum members here! ![]() ![]() Last edited by Livni; 8th April 2009 at 16:30.. | |||||||||||
