As to the article itself... I hope it doesn't end in a farce, like most things the police does. There are some areas where everybody knows there are constant problems with vehicles parking at bus stops, at red/white spots, etc. and the cops have better things to do. The municipalities and police in Gush Dan don't need to impose a congestion tax, all they need to do is enforce the law as it stands now, and they will make just as much money without angering a lot of honest citizens.

Transport Ministy has issued today motoric (electric) 250-watt bicycles regulations and standards to allow them to be legal as a legitimate vehicle. The minimum driving age will be 14 years.

בשורה טובה לרוכבי האופניים בארץ. שר התחבורה, ישראל כץ, הגיש היום (ג') לאישור ועדת הכלכלה של הכנסת את התקנות המתירות את השימוש באופניים עם מנוע עזר חשמלי.
עד כה הוגדרו אופניים עם מנוע עזר כאופנוע לכל דבר, אולם מאחר והכלי אינו עומד בתקינה, לא ניתן היה לרשום אותו בארץ ולתת לו רשיון רכב. יצויין כי השימוש באופניים חשמליים הוגדר עד כה כעבירה על פי תקנות התעבורה.
שר התחבורה הוסיף כי בדומה לאופניים הרגילים, אופניים עם מנוע עזר חשמלי מאפשרים גמישות בתכנון הנסיעה, התגברות על בעיות חניה ונסיעה מהירה בכבישים בשעות העומס.
על פי התקנות החדשות ניתן לרכב על אופניים חשמליים בעלי הספק מירבי של 250 וואט אשר מהירות נסיעתם אינה עולה על 25 קמ"ש. הגיל המינימלי של הרוכב באופניים יוגבל ל-14 שנים. האופניים החשמליים אינם מצריכים רשיון נהיגה או רשיון רכב בדומה לשאר מדינות העולם
