| A new tax regulation has been passed today: developers who have unsold apartments can rent them for the first two years tax free (saving 15.5% tax up to now). The new tax break will make it profitable for new apartments to be released into the renting market instead of keeping them closed. the new incentive will put hundreds of new apartments for rent, and it will create another financing tool and revenue for builders. | I think this sounds like a great idea to revive construction market! Frankly I don't understand why such a step wasn't made a long time ago. | |||||||||||

Last edited by Livni; 24th March 2009 at 22:57.. | |||||||||||

Without a job there isn't money to pay for housing. The reason the center of the country is so dense is that is where the jobs are. Better roads and fast trains (that run often) could help in moving population further from Tel-Aviv. Today there is population movement South of Tel-Aviv in part because of better transportation. When the fast train between Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv is completed more people will move in that direction as well. Modein is now a 20 minute train ride from Tel-Aviv and is growing very rapidly. If Bersheva was a 45minute train ride from Tel-Aviv it would also grow more rapidly. | ||||||||||||

| the new stats released show 8% increase in people who cant pay their mortgage. the only reason you dont see tent cities is people move in with their relatives (its in the thousands). so a lot more people now are looking to rent, and the reality is they prefer to rent as close as possible to where they work because transportation costs of train or bus are high and only rise. so any move that has more available apts for rent is good. In modiin there was a scheme by azrieli for rented apts next to the mall from what I read it was quickly rented out. Last edited by Livni; 28th March 2009 at 18:05.. | |||||||||||
