| more bridge pics Pontede Amizade (Friendship Bridge): Ponte de Amizade or Friendship Bridge (...) is a four-lane, two-way bridge connecting Macau Peninsula near the Reservatório and the island of Taipa at Pac On. It is the second bridge in Macau to connect the peninsula and Taipa. Construction started in June 1990. Opened to traffic in March 1994, it is the longest of the three bridges connecting Macau Peninsula and Taipa, with a length of 4,700 metres, including 800 metres of connecting viaduct, and a width of 18 metres. The two entrances on the peninsula are at Avenida de Amizada near the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal and at Avenida da Ponte da Amizade in Areia Preta. The two entrances on the northern slope of Taipa Grande are at Estrada de Pac On, that connects to Pac On, and at Estrada Almirante Magalhães Correia, that connects with the Centro of Taipa (Vila Taipa). ![]() ^ the bridge as seen from the HK-Macau ferry pier. ![]() . | |||||||||||

| Macau's third connection to Taipa Sai Van Bridge (Ponte de Sai Van) (the new Brooklyn Bridge )Ponte de Sai Van or Sai Van Bridge (Chinese: 西灣大橋) is a cable-stayed bridge in Macau, 2.2km long and is the third bridge to connect Taipa Island to Macau. It was inaugurated on December 19, 2004. The bridge features a double-deck design, with an enclosed lower deck to be used in the event of strong typhoons, in which case the other two bridges connecting Taipa and Macau (Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho and Ponte de Amizade) are closed. Space was also reserved in the lower deck for a rail-link in future. ![]() .![]() ![]() ![]() ^ with The Gate of Understanding in foreground ![]() ^ Torch bearers running on the Sai Van Bridge for the East Asian Games in 2005 ![]() . | |||||||||||
