Porto Alegre

Porto Alegre is one of the largest cities in Brazil, and the capital city of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.

According to the IBGE of 2007, there were 4,100,000 people residing in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre. The population density was 2.905,3 inh./km². The last PNAD (National Research for Sample of Domiciles) census revealed the following numbers: 3,300,500 White people (80.5%), 475,000 Multiracial people (11.6%), 299,000 Black people (7.3%), 24,000 Asian or Amerindian people (0.6%).[4]
