| I've seen all of NY. You honestly be surprised how much of it is thrown around the world. You say Dubai isn't a real city, is that so? What defines a city? You aren't the universal dictionary. Maybe Dubai isn't a city yet, but soon enough it will be. Corner to corner stores don't make a city. The population of Dubai is 1.3 million and growing, that's one third less than Melbourne's. With the huge amount of space and already existing infrastructure Dubai has the right to be a called a city. Sure in population it's not a big one, but very soon withing the next 5 to 10 years Dubai will overshadow most cities in the world. Yes you were saying building stuff from export money was bad. You were using it as a negative connotation. Central park isn't the biggest park in NYC? Then what is? I thought central park was cos its a huge block in the middle of Manhattan. "There so call culture design." What does that mean? Yes their so called culture design. Their artwork and embroidments and shapes that form the arabic culture have been woven in the buildings and gardens to give an overall arabic feel. You're insinuating that their culture is crap is non existant, that borders racism. The Gardens have been designed as has many buildings to imitate the Arabic forms of lines and shapes to give the feel that your in an Arab nation. NYC was built so that it's for Americans, Dubai was built for Arabs and people who want to come from overseas, that is visitors, it's so they can accomodate everyone. Actually NYC does that too. What the hell is so attractive about Central park? Its a long rectangle... that is not attractive. Dubai's gardens with their curves are far more attractive. I've actually looked at some of the condos and whatnot you provided and compared them to some Dubai condos, and these are the ones you buy to live in not rent for a week. NY charges $600000 for an apartment, whereas in Dubai you can buy one for $250000. It's cheaper to live in Dubai than in NY and that's an incentive to move to Dubai. | |||||||||||

| NYCboy1212 & Nitronic_12....that's quite an interesting argument you two have going on. Both of you hold adamant opinions and you two have some valid points.. but in MY personal view, this comparison (if there is actually any at this point in time) shouldn't even be taking place. At least not at the present moment. I find the comparison absurd mainly because one city is a REAL city in the true sense of the word as opposed to the other one being in the development stages. So Dubai has some of the tallest skyscrapers on earth under construction. The tallest one, no less. That's a monumental architectural & engineering feat, there's no denying that..BUT that (along with the other embellishments Nitronic mentioned) doesn't necessarily make Dubai the superior city. I'd like to maintain myself neutral and would really like to see this comparison made in say.. another twenty to thirty years when Dubai has developed into a TRUE city. I'm assuming most of us on this thread are young so we should all be around to see what awesome city Dubai will emerge as. It should prove highly fascinating. ![]() | |||||||||||

| Spot on frantzn8r. I was kinda thinking to get to a point where I'd say what you did. In the true sense of the word Dubai isn't a city yet. In 5-10 maybe, 20-30 for sure. Dubai is considered the youngest most developed city one earth. As you put it so proper, the Burj is a monumental feat of architecture and engineering, but I'd also like to apply that to all the other insane project going on there in Dubai. I mean they're off the books, largest building, largest bridge etc etc etc. It's like something out of my Simcity dreams. | |||||||||||

Look at the difference between Dubai and NYC and determine all things that dubai does not have and you will see what i mean by real city. Also Dubai is not walkable thats what i meant by corner to corner store, sorry i should of elaborated more. What Makes a Neighborhood Walkable And dont say it is because you said it your self that dubai is spread out and if that is the case then dubai will be crowded dont you think. And when it is spread out no easy access to stores and lowers the amount of stores in an area. and really read both i took time to read them you should take time to read them. If you cant read them at a fast pace where you can understand it to that means you did bad in school or the school system you had was horrible. New York City - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Dubai - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Here in NYC we have four seasons. That means the plants and weather changes. When the plants change it is beautiful. NYC has more trees on its streets. And what does the way the boundary of the parks factor in. You wont be able to tell if you are on the ground. Attractive as in the park layout, plants, animals and different things. I dont understand how that design is attractive if im not Arabian. Just to let you know im a Christian. Central park is the fifth largest park in NYC. Manhattan is the fourth largest borough in NYC. There are 5 boroughs. Central Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia List of New York City parks - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the central park website is way better than that garden The Complete Guide to Central Park and Central Park Zoo Central Park Conservancy: Central Park Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens Oh and for those price did you factor in size, location, and amenities. Also pricing factors in the high demand for more homes in NYC. Those prices are not expensive for alot of people. You only gave one price with non of the criteria i listed. Also nobody rents for a week. PS stop just talking about architecture. I have read one thing that has nothing to do with architecture from you. You only think Dubai is better because of its big buildings but thats what dubai only has to it, tall buildings. Here something you probably didnt know(this has nothing to do with the topic so dont comment back on this) the most expensive home in NYC is $70 million In Pictures: Most Expensive Homes In The U.S. - Forbes.com Last edited by NYCboy1212; 10th October 2008 at 01:27.

EDIT:You know I'm getting seriously sick of you treating me like a retard. I know NY has 5 main boroughs, I can name them all. And your links are a waste of your time. You're judging a garden by it's website? That's epic sad. A person in a hotel rents for a week. I DID FACTOR IN LOCATION AND AND AMENITIES. Who in their right mind would spend 2 MILLION dollars on a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment? Doesn't matter where it is in New York that's insane. I'd rather spend that money a ticket to dubai and spend it on a buying a suite in a taller residental tower that looks better. And in the end I still have money to spend on what I want. I think dubai is better because of its planned infrastructure and architectural marvels. I think that Dubai's buildings are far more inpressive architecturally than that of NYC. End of story. In 5 years I'll come back to this and tell you that Dubai has formed into an amazing city. Last edited by Nitronic_12; 10th October 2008 at 14:22.
