ISLAMABAD: Pak Gulf Company will shortly start the construction of a state-of-the-art hotel in the federal capital and all the requirements of building codes necessitated by the last year’s devastating earthquake will be followed by the company, said Brigadier Humayun (retd).

In an interview, he said that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) was satisfied with the arrangements for the construction of a 38-storey hotel, said Mr Humayun, the project director for the hotel. He said that ground-breaking ceremony would be held either by the end of this month or early next month.

“Our hotel will be entirely different from other hotels in the federal capital,” he said. It will be a five-star deluxe hotel and it will entertain customers in a far better way, said Mr Humayun. He said that the investors definitely needed political stability. The new building codes, which have been framed after the devastating earthquake, will be followed in true spirit.

Mr Humayun said that the proposed location of the hotel is ideal. It is almost in the center of the capital. He said that the hotel will be easily accessible from Islamabad International Airport. The building of the hotel will be seen from surrounding areas.

Pak Gulf Company has purchased land worth Rs 6.5 billion. The planned investment for the construction has been estimated at 300 million US dollars. The hotel will be different in various ways from other hotels. Apart from having a restaurant, the centrally airconditioned hotel will have a shopping mall, kids playing area and other entertainment facilities. The hotel will also have cinema hall, he said. He said that hotel will also have a three-storey underground parking area.

“We are planning that branded companies come and invest in the shopping mall,” he said. They will provide quality goods to the valuable customers of the hotel, he added. He said that the hotel would be constructed in accordance with the new codes devised after the October 8, 2005 earthquake.

The hotel will be constructed through foreign investment, he said. “The financial resources for the project will be coming from abroad,” he said. The company will ensure that the security of the hotel at any cost. We will install state-of-the-art equipment for security, he said. The project director hoped we would get the return very soon. The project will be trendsetter. With the completion of this project, other investors will also come and invest in such projects. We are hopeful that project will pay dividend, Mr Humayun said.
