Everytime I'm there I love this airport. I was just there in July 2007 and it just keeps improving. One of the best airports I've ever been to.

The 2007 figures are in, and Athens International Airport handled 9.7% more passengers compared to 2006!

2007 total passengers carried is 16.538.645, as opposed to 15.079.708 from 2006. That's another 1 million passenger increase as in previous years. The airport has broken the 16 million passenger mark it was designed to handle in its first phase. I wonder what their current plan is for expansion. If I remember correctly, someone emailed them about a year ago and they said they were reviewing the master plan. Its also worth a mention that AIA hasnt released an official press release yet. Maybe we will get some information about the future expansion there...

Increase: 10,2%

The airport also saw 205.294 aircraft movements in 2007, a rise to 7,6% from 190.872 from 2006.
