Thessaloniki-Istanbul European Transport Corridor-Overview
The project is concerned with the road and railway connection between Greece and Turkey and the main objective of this initiative is the mutual cooperation and exchange of information on issues related both to the infrastructure and the operation of the corridor with the aim to:
1. Achieve a coordinated and interoperable development of the infrastructures between the two sides to ensure optimum exploitation of the available resources.
2. Jointly develop initiatives for the better possible operation of the corridor (cross-border passages, routes etc)
3. Jointly present our needs and objectives to international funding organisations to achieve higher fund-raising.
The cross-border Transport Corridor Thessaloniki-Istanbul refers to the road, rail intermodal and in particular combined transport infrastructures, including ancillary installation such as signalling, the installations necessary for traffic management, access links, border crossing stations, service stations, freight and passenger terminals, warehouses on the route of the Corridor as defined above.
The alignment of the Corridor is defined as follows:
Road section: Thessaloniki-Alexandroupolis-Kipi-Ipsala-Tekirdag-Kinali-Istanbul.
Rail section: Thessaloniki-Serres-Alexandroupolis-Pythion-Uzunkorpu-Istanbul.

Nice project here.
That will be great. It will strengthen alot the trade between the 2 countries and unify the region of Ipeiros - Macedonia - Thrace - Eastern Thrace along with Egnatia.
to be honest Turkey didn't do what she must do about this project for now. The highway wich comes from Greece doesn't continue in Turkey. Highway of Turkey passes from the north (the blue line at Roadmap2). Green road at Turkish side at map 2 is not highway and not in a good condition now. There are just some road repairings there, nothing else.
But there is this plan as you see. We'll see what will happen
but why?they don't have money for that?
