Thessaloniki Public Trasportation

How is the public transportation in Thessaloniki now? Buses or other things?
Could you indroduce by photos?

Hi Kuvvaci,

Thessaloniki has only buses. That's why a new metro is much needed. The bus owner is the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization (OASTH)

is there not a suburban rail line? Becaue there are railway connections to the city.

There is a plan of a suburban railway connecting Thessaloniki with the surrounding cities like Serres, Veroia, Katerini. These ones will be ready within the next two-three years. The railway also is expected to connect the southern suburbs of Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki with the city. Also I think it will be expanded to other cities (Larissa, Kozani, etc), which aren't very close to Thessaloniki as the first ones.

Two of them have been manufactured by irisbus and the rest of them by ELVO (Hellenic Vehicle Industry)
