| Aerospace research center to be established TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) -- Ministry of Communications and Information Technology will establish an aerospace research center in one month, MP Hamid Saadat said here on Wednesday. “The establishment of the research center requires a systematic structure, thus the Majlis Education and Research Committee decided that the center should be run by a board of trustees,” Saadat told the Mehr News Agency. In light of its responsibility for the country’s research and scientific issues, the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology is required to cooperate with the center, he added. | |||||||||||

| Negotiation with U.S. over parts supply for Iran’s other Airbuses possible TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – Perhaps the United States’ recent move on allowing Airbus A-310 parts sales to Iran is a prelude to negotiations on the parts supply for the nation’s other classes of Airbus, noted here on Wednesday Nurollah Rezaii Niaraki, chairman of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization. In its discussions with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) - during the session of the organization’s assembly recently held in Montreal, Canada - Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization referred to the parts supply for Iranian airliners as an important measure aimed at boosting the safety of the flights in Iran’s air carriers, the Iranian official said. The measure would result in saving the lives of a large number of people, he asserted warning that some European and American passengers too use the same flights. Only time will tell what the next U.S. move would be, because many things could happen until then, Rezaii Niaraki told the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA). The United States has recently agreed to allow the six Iranian Airbus airliners to be repaired in a third country and Western nations have offered to sell Iran new planes and spare parts as part of an incentive package aimed at getting Tehran to roll back its nuclear program. Air accidents are frequent in Iran, where most passenger planes are 16 years old, on average. Nearly 30 people died in September when a Russian-made Tupolev-154 caught fire on landing in northeastern Iran. The country's main carrier, Iran Air, has seven Tupolevs in its 43-plane fleet. It also has seven Boeings bought before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and 28 European Airbus and Fokker aircraft. | |||||||||||

| ^ That's great, if it happens. We need spare parts, and I hope we can buy some decent planes as well. I would really love to see A330s or A340s in IranAir colors, they would look great ! Last edited by Shay-One; 12th October 2006 at 21:49. | |||||||||||
