Iran reiterates opposition to nuclear weapons after N. Korean test
TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (MNA) -- On Monday, government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham reiterated Iran’s opposition to nuclear weapons after North Korea announced it had conducted its first underground nuclear test.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to the use and production of any kind of weapon of mass destruction, especially nuclear weapons,” Elham told reporters.

“Iran has repeatedly declared that it favors global nuclear disarmament, and if the major powers take this path, other countries, especially the Islamic countries, will support them,” he added.

Elham went on to say that the best solution to the world’s nuclear dilemma would be for the major powers to start dismantling their nuclear weapons first.

I don't believe Ahmadinejads goverment... I don't think this program is peacefull.... If it was i supported it but it just isn't (the mullahs have no intrest in a peacefull nuclear program) This nuclear energy thing will give Iran only 11% of its electricty need in 20 years, which means 89% will still be coming from other ways, i want to know... can't this regime invest this nuclear bs money in some good refineries which can bring up the production of benzine in the country? Or invest in bringing up the oil production to its pre revolution rate of 7 million barrels a day... If this nuclear stuff wasn't there we would have seen good links between the US and Iran today... Iran had the chance to get back in the world community with all of the insentives it was given to stop the nuclear program but it preferes to have a nuclear program for 11% of the energy need of Iranians? C'mon who are we kidding this program is nothing peacefull its just to make sure that these mullahs will stick around just a bit longer...

I doubt that Iran would have good links with the US, with or without nuclear program... infact IMO the nuclear program has made the US offer ties to Iran lol

Well... 11% for now, but eventually oil will run out and nuclear energy is more longer lasting.. not to mention the ammount of uranium Iran has as a natural resource.. why not use it?? Also from the nuclear energy Iran can use it for medicutical purposes also.

End of the day if Iran is dellousional enough to make nukes to attack Israel that would wipe out their beloved Palistinians, destroy their Al Qods and pretty much obliterate Hezbollah and Hamas.. so who they want to use it against? lol it makes no sense.

OMG you really arent seeing this are you? They are planning to get this weapon to make sure they stick around just for ever without having to fear international critics on Irans "internal" issues (the human rights abuses) the 11% is for about ever the program is made for only 11% of the Iranian energy needs the amout of investments going into this program are huge, with this money they had the chance to develop the oil industry better,,, we still have 100 years of oil production and the worlds biggest natural gas reserve (after russia) that is untouched... You come and tell we need uranium for Irans energy needs? We don't need it today, its a industry thats not so significant when we are talking about technological edvancement (there are industries with more prestige one example the high tech industry) Today we need good links to the west and the USA today we need foreign investment today we need western technology today we need infrastructure, not a nuclear "powerplant" It just doesn't make sense... btw the medical purposes can be get from foreigners its a technology thats given by the AEIA to 3rd world nations... Iran wont use its nuclear weapon dont worry but it will be there ticket to just about some more decades of opression of the Iranian people and expansion of there shia "kingdom".
