| Livni You are in a state of denial. What is true that after awhile the bits of trash everywhere is overlooked. I'm sure there are places where the trash is far worse and I'm sure that even in Tel-Aviv it was worse in the past. That People don't throw trash in the streets is like saying that Israelis don't think graffiti is nice. I feel a lot has to do with it isn't my trash why should I pick it up There used to be street sweepers who cleaned up the mess left behind by the many slobs that live in Tel-Aviv. Today these sweepers aren't to be seen. The city has come up with a more mechanized system. They have one person with a blower blow the dirt in the street to the center of the road and then have a truck sweeper come by and sweep it up. This gets about 90% of the dirt and debris. The other 10% lingerers forever | |||||||||||

| Even though I am Israeli-born, I feel like a tourist whenever I come back to Israel.

Israel has gotten much more modern over the years and many things are state of the art. In some areas Israel is cutting edge. This is why there is some frustration when things aren't done properly. Israel is a beautiful country with many outstanding people but there are also arsim as well. Hopefully over time the culture of a modern society will elevate all aspects of life in Israel. | ||||||||||||

| Israel does have a big garbage problem. Most of the times the streets are clean, but in green areas you'll see garbage. If you stand in old jaffo, near the cannons and look down you'll see garbage in the bushes, garbage near the sea. Go to the national parks, the ones that you don't have to pay to get in, and you'll see garbage everywhere. Go to the negev, and you'll see plastic bags everywere. The new plastic bag tax might be a really good idea... Btw. Take a train ride from Tel Aviv to the north, look out of the window, and all the time you see garbage... And what about near the highways... | |||||||||||
