| Hey guys, I was talking for a while about getting material for transportation. Unfortunately I didn't get almost anything. However, I have compiled most of the videos I have found on the Internet in the course of more than a year and also some pictures and made this video. It's not very good because I couldn't get high quality material (i.e. nice long videos), except one video. Anyway, this took me a very long time to make (and to gather material), hopefully you enjoy. You may have to wait a little for a download slot to open. The video is 16 minutes long. http://www.badongo.com/file/1903901 | |||||||||||

| Great video! i really enjoyed it I think those highways with traffic lights (expressways) in Israel are interesting. Also good pavement and lights, even rural roads are great. Trains looking good too. Although i didnt like much the israeli bus system. | |||||||||||

| Thanks! No one seems to be interested in transportation in the Israeli forum, as your comment is the only one I got since I posted the video. With regards to your specific comment, ideally Israeli expressways would have been much better without any traffic lights (using interchanges instead) of these expressways were built quite a while ago (some of them in the 60s-70s). But there is now a big program to upgrade many roads, but that will take years. Israel does have several roads that are true freeways, lacking traffic lights. Some highways are freeways in certain parts (such as Highway 4). But overall the quality of most of Israel's highways is very good. In Canada we also have an older network of expressways that are controlled by traffic lights actually. What I find most interesting (and better) in Israel, however, is the traffic light system itself. As one can notice from the initial part of the video, traffic lights in Israel always apply to certain directions (which are always indicated above the lights with arrows), and all left turns (100% of them!) are protected. There are no unprotected left turns there like in many places in the world. This may be somewhat slower on busy roads, but much safer in my opinion. Also traffic lights are placed both before and after the intersection, that is quite rare Last edited by TheCat; 12th January 2007 at 04:25.. | |||||||||||
