Hmmm... I've just read about official statement made by Haim Ramon on military radio in Israel
What is the average opinion of Israelis about the idea "East Jerusalem (pre-1967) in exchange for international (incl. Arab states) recognition of West Jerusalem as Israeli capital" ?



Do you think it's possible? Would it be enough internal support from simple people for that solution? (the conservative members of government are said to be in favour of it)
Does it mean the whole Old City would stay under Israeli administration (they wrote it would be only about the Temple Hill, but it makes up practically almost whole Old City, or what?).

This all sounds a little fuzzy, so please someone explain it!

Whats up is about vacuous stuff. Light not too much though. We wouldn't want to have a real discussion about anything of consequence.

Just kidding. The only good thing that could come of giving up East Jerusalem would be that the Jewish Arab balance in Israel would improve. It would be interesting to see how many of the Jerusalem Arabs really want to give up there Israeli citizenship.

I hope if this deal ever gets off the ground the U.S. would finally have to recognize Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel and move it's embassy there.
