Of course this is also a consequence of the lack of ambition of the average population to get educated or create businesses, and the inability of the government to improve the education system. Worse case scenario, the average Panamanian may be destined to become slaves to foreigners, and the Panamanian oligarchy represented by the current government. Ideally though, it would create a sense of competition motivating the average Panamanian to improve his skills. Call me negative, but I would not count on that...Another sign that Panama is a time bomb...At least hopefully we'll see more pretty people on the streets...
Let's face it the Panamanian people lack ambition and a massive influx of educated foreigners would go a long way towards changing that. Remember the successive generations of these immigrants would be born and raised in Panama and would identify themselves as Panamanians. Panama has a tiny population so this could be done quickly as opposed to a large country like Colombia. Watering down the Panamanian gene pool might not be such a bad idea.
What your are writing is relevant to Europe but not here (in the sense of Muslim immigration). The poor Panamanians will always be in a majority here. I don't expect a flood of people to come here. Salaries are 20-25 % compared to back home, it's a dump and everything is complicated. How do you mail something? How do you buy a car (15 steps)?
Don't get me wrong, I also dream of a Panama without Panamanians, and it would be great for the country to be repopulated by better looking, more responsible, better educated people, but unfortunately I don't think that it's that simple.
