| considerable height. Though I would have loved to have a little area neatly packed away from the historic center, with a cluster of these buildings, it is not the rule. Los Angeles for example had absolutely no skyscrapers other than the 32 story City Hall and it did not obstruct growth. It was always regarded as a modern first class city. American style downtowns with a cluster of buildings of great height are not the rule~~Cities such as Athens and Rome should stick it out for as long as they can. Skyscrapers are stereotypical of the American downtown/city center..we should promote the preservation of historical buildings of significance , historical importance etc. We are readily too quick in my opinion to bring down these buildings which will never be built again. Our history is very much a part of our future. | |||||||||||
