Perú prueba primera planta de licuefacción gas de Sudamérica






Planta de Licuefacción de Gas Natural en Pampa Melchorita, con 3 mil 800 millones de dólares de inversión.








La obra tiene más de 120 kilómetros de tuberías, con una capacidad de disminuir la temperatura hasta menos 160 grados en el gas, reduciéndolo 600 veces en su dimensión, y permitir así su transporte.



Además, señaló que cuenta con tanques de 80 metros de diámetro de base y 52 metros de altura, que viene con un gasoducto construido especialmente para esta planta.

La puesta en operación de esta Planta generará más de mil millones de dólares anuales por exportación, 310 millones de dólares al año en impuestos y regalías, y 6 mil millones de dólares en los 18 años de operación.

También, se producirá un incremento sustancial del canon en las regiones de influencia del proyecto.



Durante la etapa de construcción se generó empleo en beneficio de más de siete mil trabajadores, y actualmente laboran en la planta 1,600 personas.

Se ha invertido 10 millones de dólares en programas de responsabilidad social, ambiental y cultural.

LNG/c “Barcelona Knutsen” delivered 28.04.2010

The first out of four 173.400 m³ LNG Tankers was delivered from DSME Shipyard in Korea to Knutsen OAS Shipping on Wednesday April 21st 2010. The vessel has been named LNG/c “Barcelona Knutsen”, and she entered the T/C Party with Repsol Friday 23rd 2010 at 00:00 LT. “Barcelona Knutsen” is now on her maiden voyage to Peru to take onboard her first cargo from the new Pampa Melchorita LNG-terminal. The LNG-factory is connected to the gas fields near Ayacucho in the Andes with a 408 km. pipeline transporting the natural gas down to the Pacific coast.

The development will turn Peru into a LNG-exporting country. Spanish energy company Repsol is part of the international consortium that is behind the Peruvian gas adventure. At least three of the four LNG vessels that will be delivered from DSME to Knutsen OAS Shipping this year, will operate for Repsol. The terminal in Pampa Melchorita will produce LNG for domestic demand as well as for export for the next 20 years.

LNG Unlimited writes that the first LNG cargo will be taken from Peru around the southern tip of South America and north to Canaport in New Brunswick in Canada. According to the magazine “Barcelona Knutsen” will be the first vessel ever to take an eastbound LNG-cargo around Cape Horn.
