I would love to see more come out of Hobart, I really love the city so much, anyway here is a project called the Manzies Centre, its only 6 stories unfortunely, and here is some backround info on the project.

Had a look on-site last week and I was told that all of the sub-surface ground works are now almost complete - according to the contractors they could not find bedrock for the foundations and this delayed the project by at least 6 weeks. Also there are a lot of archeological features that had to be retained which also caused some headaches.

A tower crane base has actually been installed for some time but the crane itself is tied up in Customs. The builders apparently decided at the last minute to buy a new one instead of using their usual machine as the Hobart building scene is warming up and they think it will get plenty of work in the next few years.

First floor formwork is partly in place so we should see some height emerging soon. Due to the "funky" design the new building will certainly make its mark in the CBD. After years of virtual stagnation - Hobart is actually starting to move along. Within 6 months there should be at least 3 cranes on the skyline.

If it is possible to expand this in some way that would be cool.

I am afraid but I am very much a newby and am still getting used to this site. But once I do I hope to be able to post some U/C photos of the various building sites around Hobart.
