| ![]() [revolving images...] Darwin City Waterfront Site Here To be built over a period of 15 years, the Darwin Waterfront will redefine Darwin as the northern gateway to Australia, adding an exciting new dimension to the city and growing tourism, small business and recreational facilities for the next generation. The development, a major attraction and community asset, will fully integrate with the CBD, bringing life to the area and establishing a family-friendly gathering place by day or night. Locals and visitors alike will be able to eat, drink, enjoy a tropical sunset, be entertained, take a stroll along the promenade or have a picnic or BBQ and enjoy the recreational facilities and children’s playground - all in a spectacular setting. Territorians will be proud to bring visitors to the Darwin Waterfront where public art will reflect the rich and varied history and culture of this area which is such an important part of Darwin’s heritage. Easy pedestrian access will be provided, linking the Waterfront with Darwin city, and car parking and increased public transport opportunities will ensure easy and hassle-free access. The development will include three main elements: * The Darwin Convention Centre, with a 1500-seat plenary capacity and 4000 square metres of exhibition space, * Community facilities including sea wall, wave lagoon, swimming areas, public promenade, parklands and picnic areas, and * Commercial developments, including a Medina hotel, a Vibe hotel, harbour side cafes and restaurants and a staged residential development. Territory businesses will reap the major benefits from the development with approximately 1000 jobs created and an 85 per cent local content component guaranteed in the project contracts. ![]() Site ![]() Convention centre ![]() | |||||||||||
