|  NAKO Istanbul - Istanbul NAKO Istanbul Neubau eines Stadtteilzentrums Builder | LIP GmbH Year | 2006 | Presentation “Crystal Complex” nps tchoban voss just presented the design for the district shopping center NAKO to the district mayor in Istanbul in August. NAKO is also the name of the borough in which over 150,000 m² of trade area, a hospital (about 30,000 m²), apartments (about 95,000 m²) and a hotel (about 35,000 m²) are to be built. Due to the topography of the building site, it looks like a plateau. This appearance formed the idea for the design: forming it into a real plateau. Designed as a rock plateau, sloping façade and roof surfaces can be formed out of large-sized panels made of natural stone. The surfaces have slots, and the light shining through these slots give the plateau a sparkling appearance at night. Why not shape the 4 high rise buildings like crystals, like an amethyst for example? The high rise buildings are between 90 and 130 m high and mark the plateau like pieces of jewelry. They have a natural appearance due to the various heights and fit perfectly into the plateau style. Another feature of the ensemble is the public courtyard which seems to passes through the plateau like a canyon. You can enter all the different shopping facilities from here. The whole building ensemble is therefore characterized by the “plateau”, the “crystals" (amethysts) and the “canyon”. This is a new highlight within the urban fabric of Istanbul. It is a landmark complex which complies with the urban design.   | |||||||||||
