The skyline of Levent financial district in northern Istanbul is getting another major boost with the approval of Ciftciler Group's new towers on Büyükdere Avenue.

The towers will be located right next to the TAT twins, directly facing the Bosphorus Bridge.

The project is designed by Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, while Arup Associates of London is helping to develop the client's vision for a retail, residential and office development that is ‘alive’ and contains open-air spaces for the spring and summer seasons. Tunca Architects Ltd. of Istanbul will work as the local architecture firm during the construction process.

The most notable feature of the project is a pair of high-rise towers that will be linked via garden bridges, with spectacular views of Istanbul and the Bosphorus Strait.

Total area of the project will be 270,000 m2, of which 65,000 m2 will be used for the retail facility, 8,500 m2 will be used as office space, and 60,000 m2 will be used for residential purposes. The complex will also include an underground parking space of 130,000 m2.

Geotechnical studies at the construction site were carried out back in 1999. Construction works are due to begin this year, and the completion date is set as 2009.
