The purpose-built facility will feature all three "Grand Slam" surfaces - grass, clay and acrylic hard court, to inspire our next generation of tennis players. The three-tier centre court will have a 5,500 seat capacity suitable for state, national and international-standard tennis events. In July 2006, Tennis Australia announced that the State Tennis Centre will be home to the newly combined Men's and Women's Hard Court Championship from 2009. The State Tennis Centre will be the headquarters for Tennis Queensland's administration and development programs. It will also be the home of the Queensland Academy of Sport's tennis program.
