A new era for tennis in Queensland
...good for fans, good for players

* 5,500 seat capacity, roofed international-standard centre court
* 22 match and training courts
* grass, clay and acrylic hard court "Grand Slam" surfaces
* attraction of international-standard tennis events
* facilities for community tennis
* headquarters of Tennis Queensland
* home of the Queensland Academy of Sport's tennis program

The State Tennis Centre will be the first international-standard tennis facility in Queensland since the closure of the Milton Tennis Centre in 1999.

The purpose-built facility will feature all three "Grand Slam" surfaces - grass, clay and acrylic hard court, to inspire our next generation of tennis players. The three-tier centre court will have a 5,500 seat capacity suitable for state, national and international-standard tennis events.

In July 2006, Tennis Australia announced that the State Tennis Centre will be home to the newly combined Men's and Women's Hard Court Championship from 2009.

The State Tennis Centre will be the headquarters for Tennis Queensland's administration and development programs. It will also be the home of the Queensland Academy of Sport's tennis program.

Old plans...

I drove past it the other day.

The old power station has been completely torn down, and they're currently in the middle of putting in foundations.

I'll try and get some pictures the next time I'm out that way.
