Airport Link is a mainly underground toll road proposed to connect Brisbane’s northern suburbs to the Inner City Bypass and planned North-South Bypass Tunnel at Bowen Hills.

The Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council are funding a detailed feasibility study to investigate the Airport Link proposal.

The study, which began in July 2005, will be carried out in three phases and will cost an estimated $21 million, with Council contributing $5 million.

The study will help the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council to make a decision about the future of the project.

Thought I better create this sooner or later

Well its a good thing. But i know that this is similar and links onto the NSBT, but is it definetly going to be a Motorway Tunnel project with a speed limit of at least 80km/h.

Brisbane seems to be Preffering Tunnels lately compared to just a Motorway road. (Of course this is smack bang in a urban area i know, thats why the use of a tunnel is justified).

Yeah, and personally I like that... who wants huge concrete motorways slicing through a suburb like Melbourne's Eastlink? that to me is ugly! Hence I much prefer tunnels... I just wish it was 3 lanes each way so they could put underground rail through it... rather than just 2 lanes.

Also, I think this Airportlink project is needed much more than the NSBT because Brisbane seems to be the only city in Australia where you have to drive through a suburban area WITH traffic lights to get to the city... So I bloody hope they hurry it up.
