People in their thousands are rediscovering the allure of city life. Enjoying the ability to live, work and play in a compact geographic area, with close proximity to transport, restaurants, shopping, entertainment; and the sense of being connected to the beating heart of the fastest growing city in Australia. A key driver in this resurgence of inner city environments, which of course creates enormous commercial opportunities, is the powerful appeal of precincts that successfully combine the old and the new, by incorporating refurbished older buildings, and retaining long-established landscapes, gardens and parks. Reflecting our human capabilities, traditions and values, these environments authenticate the special feelings we all share when we move about any major city. In a vision embraced by the Brisbane City Council, the George Street precinct in the heart of the CBD, is rapidly re-emerging as one of Brisbane’s premier commercial and retail destinations. With a significant number of planned projects ranging from the refurbishment of older office buildings to the construction of leading edge commercial and retail high-rise developments, the area is poised to undergo explosive growth.
