Another $20m CBD purchase for Devine
5 April 2007 - The Australian

QUEENSLAND developer Devine is still on the acquisition trail, yesterday agreeing to buy a Brisbane CBD property for about $20 million.

The long-term owners of the 96 Albert Street building are the Queenslanders Credit Union and interests associated with the Queensland Public Sector Union.

A Devine spokeswoman confirmed the purchase last night but said she could not comment further.

John Walklate and Jeff Dolan of agency Colliers International were the sole marketing agents on the property. Last night Mr Walklate, the managing director of Colliers in Queensland, said he could not comment.

Last week Devine bought a site on Bourke Street in the Melbourne CBD, where it plans a $150 million hotel development.

Last month it paid $22.7 million for a site on the corner of Alice and Albert streets in the Brisbane CBD.

It plans to develop a $400 million, six-star hotel and residential complex there.

Last December Devine paid $28 million for a 72ha site in Townsville.

The latest Brisbane acquisition is a 1370sqm site with a six-level C-grade building dating from the 1980s.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Brisbane CBD, Ross Nielson Properties started construction on its $270 million Northbridge tower at 32 Turbot Street yesterday.

The 35-storey Donovan Hill-designed tower will deliver about 34,500sqm of A-grade office space on completion in April 2009.

RNP is a key driver behind the North Quarter precinct on the edge of the CBD, where $2 billion worth of private and government development is under way.

Northbridge will feature public art space and a pedestrian laneway connecting Turbot Street and the planned Tank Street pedestrian bridge.

Wow. I wonder what they'll propose for this site. I'm half interested. This is the site that is jammed between Festival Towers and M on Mary!

Well it's not too big at 1400sqm, but I'm sure they could get 40 storeys out of it. Don't know if that's a good thing

With the new CBD plan, that mightn't matter as much!
