| I appreciate the time people have spent on uploading photos. In terms of the final design, I couldn't be more disappointed. Practicality, in this case, means uninspiring and featureless (and cheap-looking). It is designed for dirty slobs whose vomit can be hosed and drained off flat, ugly panels. I hate everything about it, except for what exists beneath. I always look forward to the day that Brisbane can have some kind of public space (or tall building) that is clearly at the top of the list for classy, modern Australian design. I give this square a 3/10. If there is no money, then don't bother. I am ashamed of my beloved hometown. | |||||||||||

| I couldnt disagree more with you. I think its a practical space and a lot of people forget that it is mainly used as a throughfare. And for hosting civic events it will be ideal. yes the shade factor and a few more trees would have been great but overall I think its pretty good result. could be better but not a complete shambles. It's funny how the tourists see the bright side to it but the residents are condemning it. I think you also gotta realise that when King George Central goes up you will have more shade, not a great deal but still enough. I really dont know what people expect, sails all round?Last edited by kp22; 29th October 2009 at 01:12.. | |||||||||||

| Apparently there will be 150 tables and chairs in the square soon. Plus, when the coffee shops open with more sitting space, and, when a regular schedule of events kicks off, I think those who are a little negative about the development will come to like it. The new trees are fantastic and will be fantastic in a few years once they have matured somewhat. | |||||||||||
