| Griffith, QUT, UQ and I think JCU are the QLD unis that have town planning style courses. There are a mixture of Urban Design, Town Planning, Environmental Planning. They are essentially all the same thing.

| The biggest problem in Brisbane is the creation of local neighborhood plans. Far to much emphasis is given to what is stated at the community planning sessions. The majority of the people who attend this are NIMBY's who are anti development and seem intent on limiting development as much as possible. Most people in the community are to busy or lack any interest in attending such events. Therefore the plan is never a true reflection of the majority of the community views. The way the Albion local neighborhood plan was implemented is disappointing. It was seriously watered down by NIMBY views. Why should development be restricted to RL45m to preserve views from private residents on top of a hill? Since when in this state does a person have a right to a view? A person who owns a piece of land should not be discriminated against so his neighbor can continue to get a glimpse of a skyline view. | |||||||||||

| Totally agree. Obviously our plan has some flaws that should be fixed. | |||||||||||

| You sound identical to me! lol...I'm doing Urban Development [Property Economics] next year at QUT... Didn't know UQ even had an urban development course. When it comes to the built environment, QUT is superior to UQ... I first started off with Lego, then Sim City, now forums... Its such a privilege to live in a time and place where we can sit back and watch our region thrive. | |||||||||||
