| Interesting news... The only solution = Go tall. Brisbane land supply may run out by 2016 February 22, 2008 02:27pm | Courier mail BOOMING Brisbane could run out of land for new homes in just eight years' time, according to a new housing study for the state government. The Broadhectare Study, released this week, examined future residential land supply in Brisbane. It said that in the best population growth scenario, Brisbane would use all land capable of residential development within 14 years, but only eight years in the worst case. The study said 2.2 per cent of land in the Brisbane City area (3,047ha) was considered suitable and potentially available for residential development. A further 15.6 per cent is already developed, 13.5 per cent is allocated to roads, railways and watercourses and 64 per cent is considered not suitable for residential development. The use of all available land would enable the building of about 50,000 homes for 120,000 people. The largest single amount of land available for residential development was in the Rochedale area, in Brisbane's south. Deputy Premier Paul Lucas was expected to comment on the report later today. | |||||||||||

| thats kind of bad i mean2 or some wks ago, a news source said that many business turned their heads away from Brisbane because lack of office space the only way to solve this problem is let denser residential grow around the city or, have a better, a faster and more efficient transport system which links the other cities (eg Redland Shire or City next month, Logan City, Ipswich City or even the newly formed Moreton City) into the Brisbane city central | |||||||||||
