Student plans new video to support Regent Theatre development

A FIRST-YEAR property economics student has vowed to repost a video supporting the controversial redevelopment of Brisbane's The Regent Theatre after YouTube pulled his clip because of music copyright issues.

Eric David, who attends QUT, said he would make his own music to accompany a new clip supporting the redevelopment of the historical building after Warner Music protested to Youtube that their artist Paolo Nutini had not given permission for his song New Shoes to be used.

"The clip lasted about two months, but I got a violation notice from YouTube saying it was being pulled off the site," David said.

"The Save The Regent people told Warner."

David said he supports the development and was not aligned with any developers.

"I just think it's a good development and they intend keeping the historical aspects of the theatre."

lol, yeah its all quite bizarre, but hey I think I made my point.

RE: the video. I just simply showed the facts and the current renders of the building.

In the redesign, It would be good to see at least a small cinema such as Rosalie's "the blue room", just something small like that would be good off to the side, and would make everyone happy I think. Or, if viable the reconstruction of the original theatre. There are so many options for this project.
