| Can't wait to see the Dalgety match heights with the Sugar Shaker. Also do you know of the Town plan design, the one with a 95m tower | |||||||||||

| The Dalgety has actually been given DA approval for a full height of 80m at 22 stories, so it'll appear allot taller then the Holiday Inn. This will become Townsville's Tallest skyscraper to date (Finally after 30 odd years) Given the gradient 11m rise in the CBD it should appear to be 90m tall. Hopefully this will pave the way for larger scaled skyscraper's in the CBD, much like Darwin with Pandanus and Evolution. As for Townsville Town Square, AFAIK TCC is still in negotiation's with many developers who can exceed the councils expectations with a "Public square which hold's the characteristics of NQ, in which you wont find anywhere else in Australia at this stage" I have a friend who work's at the council (Ben) and many others who believe this tower alone could topple the 30st mark and perhaps exceed the 100m restrictions, the council has been pretty lenient of the planning scheme lately and given this is a council orientated development then there isnt a doubt in my mind we could regain the glorious title of having Northern Australia's tallest building back off Darwin. Urban design consultant James Tuma is to finalise the development. The project concept is to mix commercial, office, retail and residential development in an area to the rear of the Townsville City Council administration building, and be the beating heart of the city. | |||||||||||
