| Kawana Shoppingworld is about to expand by around 50% which should take it from 30 000 sq. m to 45 000 sq.m approximately and is expected to include a Target, Cinemas and more shops and restaurants it is expected to be finished by Christmas 2008. It is a Mirvac project. Buddina or Kawana, which are both the same area is the centre of some interesting developments. Not only is there a large Stockland project going on, there is a controversial project under review called the Buddina Urban Village which is a potentially exciting project which aims to connect Kawana Shoppingworld to the beach via an urban village similar in design to Cavill mall on the Gold Coast, expansion to the surf club are also proposed. Property prices are going through the roof in this area. Also proposed in Buddina are large pockets of mixed density housing, it seems as though there are going to be large clusteres of 6 story apartments. I have been trying to get more info on the Kawana Town Centre, I believe there is supposed to be a shopping centre being built which is as big or bigger than Kawana Shoppingworld but it is not due to be open until mid 2008. Stockland haven't released much more info unfourtunately. I will keep you posted when I find out more. | |||||||||||

| In todays Sunshine Coast Daily, the headline is about the expansion of the Sunshine Plaza, it will increase by 23% and will cost $242 million, it will employ another 850 people when completed. It is a Lend Lease development and will be completed by December 2010. I believe that would make it close to being as big as Carindale or Chermside. In addition to that $800 million is being spent on Maroochydore's Cbd. That should possibly coincide with the Plaza expansion. | |||||||||||

| Sunshine Coast's population is around 276 000 - 280 000 and growing at around 5500 to 6000 new residents annually. I was in Calooundra recently and have noticed the start of the new $85 million Ramba resort as well as a new Woolworths anchored shoppng centre. The Hibiscus caravan park is another controversial development hotspot so I will keep you posted on that one. The Monaco apartments which are on an earlier post will be completed in 2009. Hopefully the council will stop dragging the chain and the $120 million waterpark and resort near Corbald Race Course will be built. It would be reasonable to assume that Caloundra's Cbd will grow between 25 - 50% in the next 3 -5 years. | |||||||||||

| Council amalgamation looks like it will possibly speed many of Maroochydore's projects up due to it being the larger of the 3 councils. Noosa recently published an advertisement of how they feared Noosa would look with highrise development along the beachfront. Surely they must have been approached by some big development companies if they are anticipating that kind of development. The diagram in the courier mail on friday shows a skyline resembling surfers paradise. I would have thought that was a little exaggerated. | |||||||||||
