| ![]() QLD firm behind $2.2b Dubai skyscraper Shannon Molloy | November 4, 2008 - 11:39AM | Brisbanetimes Queensland developer EWM has joined forces with international powerhouse The Sunland Group to build a $2.2 billion mega skyscraper in Dubai that comprises more than 1000 luxury apartments. The developers today announced a joint venture agreement to develop The Atrium, a luxury 68-storey tower in the heart of Dubai's coastal precinct. Designed by international architects Pickard Chilton, the skyscraper will feature 1045 luxury apartments and will take five years to complete. EWM will take a 40 per cent interest in the development and managing director Brad Scott tipped the agreement was the beginning of several deals within the Arab Gulf region. "We believe that Sunland's development expertise in Australia and overseas provides a natural partner for the EWM Group as it seeks to expand its global interests," Mr Scott said. Sunland, which was behind the iconic Q1 tower at Surfers Paradise, defied turmoil in the global economy last month when it unveiled plans for The Atrium. The company also announced its $28 million acquisition of the remaining component of the Royal Pines Resort residential development on the Gold Coast. | |||||||||||
