I completely agree but I believe cities need Some skyscrapers for the purpose of vanity.

I kind of disagree. Have you ever seen how dense is Athens?
It is not only a matter of beauty. We have run out of empty spaces already... And if we continue low - rise (which in the "Greek Sense" might mean 5-6 floors apartment blocks), then we might end with a double sized thing like this:
