| This years NBA Finals will feature the matchup between the LA Lakers and the Orlando Magic. They say that this will be very intersting no matter who wins it. Although the Lakers have dominated this decade by making it the NBA Finals five times this year making this their second straight appearance, the last time they have won it was back in 2002 against the NJ Nets while failing to win one against either the Detroit Shock (2004) or the Boston Celtics (2008). Of course some players such as Kobe Bryant already have a championship ring, though players such as Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom are looking for their first rings, while Phil Jackson, who is their head coach is looking to break the record for the most championships won be a coach in which he is currently tied with Red Auerbach, who was the coach of the Celtics. However, the Magic haven't made an NBA Finals appearance since 1995 when they were swept against the Houston Rockets, so if they do manage to at least put up a win, it will be their first in franchise history after going 0-4 the last time making them they only team to never win a championship go winless, though even teams that have yet to win one have managed to leave with winning at least one game that includes the Nets (2003)*, Utah Jazz (1997, 1998), Dallas Mavericks (2006), Indiana Pacers (2000), and Cleveland Caviliers (2007). Nobody on the Magic has made it to the NBA Finals in the past with any other team, so for players like Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, and Rashard Lewis, it's all of them making a debut here. Then again, who will go all the way? Below is who made it and who didn't surrvive the previous rounds, so once again, no temper tantrums if your team didn't make it. 2008 NBA Finals (3) Orlando Magic (4-2) vs (1) LA Lakers (4-2) Failed to Qualify Denver Nuggets Cleveland Caviliers (*) = The Nets were swept in the 2002 NBA Finals by the Lakers

| Just some ground rules for this thread. 1. This thread will be used to discuss the 2009 NBA Finals and not any that already occured in the past or future let alone any other sporting events. 2. There will be personal attacks or any other ad hominems aimed at anyone who happens to be rooting for the other team. 3. Please do not turn this thread into a *****ing match on who should have made the NBA Finals, b/c there will be always be next year for them. 4. No temper tantrums or any other sore looser attitude if the team you were rooting for in the NBA Finals loose the championship, b/c there will always be next for them as well. 5. Just to save anyone from humiliating themselves on this thread, don't post here if you have nothing constructive say or add.

| NBA.com: NBA Finals TV ratings holding steady from last season NBA Finals TV ratings holding steady from last season Posted Jun 10 2009 4:34PM NEW YORK (AP) -- Television ratings for the NBA Finals are holding up from last year even though Lakers-Magic isn't as glamorous a matchup as the 2008 series between Los Angeles and the Boston Celtics. ABC said Wednesday that Orlando's 108-104 win Tuesday night in Game 3 earned a 10.1 overnight rating. That's down 6 percent from the 10.8 for last season's Game 3, which featured a Celtics team with far more tradition and a bigger market than the Magic. Ratings represent the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Overnight ratings measure the nation's largest markets. Copyright © 2009 NBA Media Ventures, LLC.
