Finally the construction of the new generation highspeed trains begin and Turkey becomes the 8th nation that builds highspeed trains. Right now there are three lines unders construction. Ankara-Eskisehir, Eskisehir-Istanbul and Polatli-Konya. The first line will be opened on october 29th that means in less then one months. On this track the spanish made CAF's will be used which have a max. highspeed of 250km/h

Turkey started building high-speed rail lines in 2003. The first line, from İstanbul via Eskişehir to Ankara, is under construction.The first phase of the project (Ankara-Eskisehir) will be opened on october 29th and the rest at the end of 2007. The traveling time will be reduced from 6–7 hours to 3 hours 10 minutes. The second line (Ankara-Konya) began construction in 2006. A travel time of 70 minutes is foreseen for this track. Several other lines between major cities are planned:

Ankara - Afyon - Uşak - İzmir
Ankara - Yozgat - Sivas
İstanbul - Bursa
Ankara - Bursa
İstanbul - Kapıkule (Bulgarian border)
