yes... I don't say I don't like europeans, actually my best friends in the US were all europeans, mostly germans. I really like germans, they are naturally funny. I mean, they don't try to be funny, they are funny by default. haha... So, my best friends were europeans, and we had so much fun together. Turkey is kinda somewhere between the USA and Europe. I was able to share with both people, I had a lot of things in common with both nationalities. So, sometimes I was being with europeans and we were engaging american friends saying "Americans are like that bla bla, we europeans don't do that"... because in this case I was similar to europeans. Yet, there were equal number of occasions where I did the same with americans towards europeans. From what I observed, EU and USA are more distant from each other than EU-Turkey and USA-Turkey.
I speak german, I work for a german company, most of my highschool teachers were german, my best friends in the US are german, most of the time people think I am german due to my appearance (they pick me as the german one, even when we are together with my german friends... Actually many german people thought I am german) . Despite all of these, I wouldn't feel as comfortable living in germany as the US. All my european friends were admitting that their culture does not accept any foreign input. It is like cancer, they cannot stop this... The society needs to change as a whole which is very difficult.

Why? EU believes in standards for everyone and everything, citizens should have equal opportunities, like education system and health care. Eventhough this highly increases the quality of society it weakens the country. Therefore EU don't have Harvard's or State of the art hospitals.

On the other hand, in US and Turkey, there are extremely smart and well educated people who drives the country. In the latter one this has to be this way since we don't have excess resources so we unfairly give more opportunities to gifted people and have to neglect the rest. Therefore we have some really effective institutions but also have large amount of not very well educated people as a side effect.

If Turkey becomes a EU member, EU needs to supply resources until some standards can be established. And if you think about the land mass and population increase of Turkey into account Turkey would easily become the King state of EU. And I don't think EU (or any country in the world) wants to help someone who can easily rule them in return when he heals.

Last comment; As some fellow friend mentioned, EU is projected to lose its competitiveness in the areas of industrial production and health-care, so why should Turkish working population look after retired Europeans and pay their retirement money with our taxes instead of building better infrastructure in our own country?
right,the same with us

I don't want the EU membership for my country. But more than that I don't want Turkey to affort for the membership and we must leave the Custom Union of the EU. But we can sign a new and free trade agreement with the EU like Norway did.

The last rate; only 24% of Turks support the EU membership. As long as we started to know what EU is and what can we aim, support descreased.
